Reply:Actually I hear more Carribean music and steel drums most of the time in movies etc.

Aside from that the soothing relaxing scenes that often employ ukulele music are simply a form of "Folk Music" Every culture has their own "folk" genre and to any language or nation outside of that culture it would usually be referenced as %26lt;cultural%26gt; folk music.

In this case Hawaiian Folk Music. However if you speak to someone who is well versed in the Hawaiian language you may find out the native word for the genre.
Reply:Hawaiian music is actually rather diverse, with many subgenres under the umbrella of "Hawaiian". I think the one you're probably thinking of is Hawaiian Steel Guitar. Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhIAcedVy...
Reply:I think you already put a name to it "Hawaiian tropical music" I have listened, and I do not recognize it as any particular song, but it is very definitely Hawaiian type music.
Reply:Here in Hawaii, we call it "Hawaiian music". There are sub-genres, such as Jawaiian (reggae), falsetto, etc.
