Any good hawaiian names for a girl?

First I have to laugh, though not maliciously, at Elizabeth's answer! My step-father is Hawiian and I have two half-sisters. Mary Margaret and Elizabeth Lani! Lani is by far my favorite and I will probably name my next daughter using some form of that name!

Any good hawaiian names for a girl?

Malia is the Hawaiian name for Mary. If we're talking about the word "malia" as part of the actual Hawaiian vocabulary, it means "perhaps". The Hawaiian word for "calm" is "Malie", pronounced MAH-lee-ay. The Hawaiian alphabet only has the letters "a, e, i, o, u, h, k, l, m, n, p, & w". Anything else is not a Hawaiian word, unless we're talking about Tahitian words or other Polynesian origin words. They use the letter "t" instead of "k" and depending on your dialect of Hawaiian, it is used interchangeably. Go to wehewehe.org for a very accurate online Hawaiian dictionary. All constants in Hawaiian words are followed by a vowel and to break down pronunciation simply, take it two letters at a time. Hope that helps all who want to give their keiki accurate and authentic Hawaiian names. :0)
